Rāga, Recitation & the Devotional Music of India

Rāga, Recitation & the Devotional Music of India

We are pleased to announce Module 2 of Rāga, Recitation & the Devotional Music of India, beginning Monday 12 October at 6 pm IST.

Over this next six-week module, Kate and Sundarnath will continue to guide us on our journey through Indian classical rāga and Sanskrit recitation, deepening our understanding and experience of traditional Indian music theory, vocal training, mantra and contemplative practice through the lens of Trika Śaivism and Abhinavagupta’s understanding of aesthetics and rasa.

Building on the foundations established in Module 1, we will deepen our study of śruti, svara and rāga, alongside Sanskrit pronunciation and recitation, with an emphasis on learning through attentive listening, repetition and direct experience.

Module 1 is a recommended foundation. If you didn’t attend Module 1 but would like to join Module 2, please contact Kate or write to us.
